Tom Penton
President
Tom had entrepreneurial aspirations from a very young age. He started a company called Magic Lite early in his career, which has grown it into a well-respected supplier of architectural and specialty lighting products in Canada. In 2013, Tom purchased National Specialty Lighting and has been running both organizations ever since.

Jen Zorony
Chief Financial Officer
As our CFO and Jill-of-all-trades, Jen uses her background in business administration and finance to expertly manage our office and handle our accounting, HR, purchasing and inventory. When not hard at work here at NSL, she enjoys reading, yoga, crafts and camping with her husband and two daughters.

Jen Penton
VP of Business Development
With a PhD in Coastal Engineering and a background as a Business Group Manager at GHD Engineering and Consulting, Jen brings both technical expertise and strategic leadership to her role. For the past three years, she has represented Magic Lite and National Specialty Lighting to Canadian and American partners, focusing on building lasting relationships rooted in trust and shared growth. Having also worked summers in the family business warehouse, Jen’s connection to the company runs deep.
Outside of work, Jen is an avid sailor with a goal of crossing an ocean within the next decade. She also loves motorsports, whether that’s riding motorcycles or following Formula 1. And for a fun fact? She’s even a certified dolphin trainer. Jen lives by the words of Winston Churchill: “Dreams don’t work unless you do.”

Marquel Cardenas
Bookkeeper & Operations Support
Marquel has been part of the team for over eight years, bringing an accounting diploma, health & safety certification, and a background in construction to his role. He manages bookkeeping, inventory, invoicing, and customer support, keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly.
Known for his adaptability, Marquel enjoys the variety in his work and lives by the motto: “change is the only thing that never changes.” Outside the office, he stays active and enjoys playing piano.

Michelle Coleman
Assistant Executive Administrator
Michelle has been with the company for over 12 years, bringing experience in bookkeeping, retail, and healthcare customer service. With an Applied Accounting Bookkeeping Certificate, she supports accounting processes and logistics communication, and especially enjoys the satisfaction of making the numbers all fit together.
Outside of work, Michelle loves traveling—she was even married barefoot on a Caribbean beach. At home, she spends time in her gardens with her chickens close by. Her cheerful motto, “Have a bright day!” reflects the positivity she brings to the team.

Craig Shinde
Quotations Specialist & Customer Service
Craig has been with the company for 14 years, starting in the National Specialty Lighting warehouse and working his way into his current role. A graduate of Humber Business School, he now focuses on preparing quotations, handling customer inquiries, and supporting distributors with solutions that meet their needs.
Away from the office, Craig has been a competitive curler for nearly 40 years, earning multiple provincial and local championships. He’s also a dedicated Dungeons & Dragons Game Master, bringing the same mix of strategy and creativity to his hobbies that he does to his work. His motto: “If you ain’t first, you’re last.”

Jason Fisher
Regional Manager, Mid & Southeast USA
Jason brings over six years of lighting industry experience to his role, including time as a lighting showroom manager, e-commerce sales manager, and owner of a rep agency. Now serving as Regional Manager, he works closely with customers and reps across the Mid and Southeast USA to provide product solutions and grow strong partnerships.
A passionate Michigan Wolverines and Atlanta Falcons fan, Jason carries the same dedication to his work as he does to his teams. He’s motivated by helping people and delivering top-notch service, guided by his favorite saying: “The key to success is to focus on goals, not obstacles.”

Patricia Krpic
Customer Service Representative
With over 20 years of customer service experience, Patricia has spent the last 11 years supporting Magic Lite and National Specialty Lighting customers and reps. From order entry and returns to inquiries and credits, she is dedicated to solving challenges and building strong customer relationships every day.
Outside of work, Patricia enjoys hiking and has even trekked the Camino Portuguese. She values teamwork in everything she does and carries a reminder to “stop and smell the roses.”

John Blair
Senior Warehouse Employee
John has been with National Specialty Lighting for over 10 years, bringing a strong background in warehouse operations, shipping, receiving, and logistics. In his role, he oversees daily functions and takes pride in giving 100 percent to every project, ensuring both coworkers and customers receive more than just another order.
Outside of work, John enjoys motorcycles, small engine repair, and spending time with his dogs. His dedication in the warehouse reflects the same passion he brings to his hobbies—always striving to do things the best way possible, with no exceptions.

Matthew Curtis
Product Manager
As Product Manager, Matthew plays a key role on the management team, guiding product development from concept through to certification and launch. With a background in construction and landscape design-build, he combines hands-on industry experience with strategic insight to optimize product offerings, packaging, and catalog performance. He also oversees ETL and UL applications, ensuring products meet rigorous standards.
Matthew’s passion for creating and problem-solving extends beyond work. A biathlon coach, sailor, and avid woodworker, he enjoys building both in sport and craft. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Brock University, studied landscape design at Sheridan College, and completed professional project management training at Ryerson. His approach is driven by teamwork and grounded in a simple motto: “That’s fun.”

John Adaghebalu
Shipper/Receiver
John has been with National Specialty Lighting for over a year, bringing a diploma in Supply Chain Management and Logistics and prior experience in warehouse operations. In his role, he manages shipping and receiving, coordinates pickups, prepares documentation, and ensures inventory stays accurate and organized.
He takes pride in keeping operations efficient and reliable, guided by his belief that “efficiency and accuracy keep everything moving.” Outside of work, John enjoys soccer, going to the gym, traveling, and exploring different cultures.
